MI-ME 2011, VIDEO-ART-INSTALATION
The project is an attempt to create a complex musical phrase, a narrative that expresses content, theatrical drama as if it was an opera, using only a single note. It relates to music as universal language of communication by sounds and expressions.
I examined the possibilities of the musical instruments and the human voice in order to create drama within limited means.
My work is a musical project that involves the participation of nine musicians, two of them opera singers. They all improvised on a single note, "me" (e), which as a word, has different meanings in different languages ( In Hebrew "mi" means:?ï?½ " WHO IS IT"? And in English it is "me").
Through two screens a dialogue between ten instruments takes place.
The musicians hold different musical background. Each one of them was filmed separately in a different location. They received accurate directing instructions when and how to refer to "mi" only as a sound and when also as a word. The duet between the singers and the conjunction of all the sounds of "mi" into one piece took place by means of video editing.
My video is about the transition of a note into a word, about a play of interpretations within the different languages by sound and expression.
