Homeland Song 2009, Video (5:03 min)
This is my first film within the framework of an ongoing project. Being filmed in the video, are three foreign workers from the Philippines who clean houses in Israel, An Arabic shoemaker, originally from the city Hebron that lives in Tel-Aviv and three little girls refugees from Sudan.
Participants in the film were asked to choose a song from their homeland and perform it in front of the camera. The foreigners are presented in the film as people with an affinity to their homeland, detached from their language and folklore.
Singing evokes memories and reflects yearning for the world they left behind.
